Purpose
Colours to Play collects sports clothing in London and brings it to communities where it is needed most: such as to Syrian refugees and displaced populations in Lebanon.
Giving a child a football shirt is a small gesture, but one that can do more than you might expect. For many, wearing sports clothing sparks joy, a sense of belonging, and a connection to a broader, collective society.
These are feelings that sport is especially good at creating - and ones we believe every child deserves to experience.
History
Colours to Play was founded in the summer of 2018 by Antonio Hanna-Amodio, a young professional living in London.
That same year, we conducted our pilot project in Beirut in collaboration with HOOPS Club, a Lebanese sports club partnering with UNICEF on the Football & Social Cohesion Project: a programme using football to foster cooperation, teamwork, and shared experience between Lebanese adolescents and Syrian refugees.
Our focus since has remained on Lebanon, reflecting the deepening crises the country has faced.
